  • New Name your own Espanso shortcuts The code shown to the left of each punchline can now be edited: instead of the app’s :eenf1, write :wtf, :meeting-email, whatever you will remember. Your shortcut goes into the exported file; an emptied field goes back to the original code. Two safeguards: a colon is added automatically when a shortcut starts with a letter or a digit — without it, a bare wtf would fire in the middle of your sentences, days later; another leading sign (;, /, !) is kept as is. And two identical shortcuts break nothing: the app warns you, and Espanso asks you to choose each time. How it works
  • New A « ? » opens the help from the gallery A circled ? between the gallery’s title and its close button opens the punchlines help page of this site, in your language, in a new tab.
  • Improved On a phone, the gallery breathes The Espanso block — explanations, button, steps — is now folded behind one line, Espanso — set up, since Espanso does not exist on phones. It unfolds with a tap. The list gets the space back: more punchlines on screen, and scrolling no longer catches on the text fields.

  • Improved Punchlines of their own in each language, and new short codes Until now the 24 punchlines were shared by all 13 languages: a line rewritten in French also showed up in German, and rewriting it in German silently overwrote the French one. Each language now keeps its own texts — nothing is lost, your edits are copied into every language, and from there each one can go its own way. The price: the Espanso code now carries the language — :e, the two letters of the language, the initial of the mood, the number — :eenf1 in English, :efrf1 in French. Two characters more, once; better today, while almost nobody has old codes to unlearn. If you had exported before, export again and replace the old file, otherwise the old codes stay active alongside. How it works
  • Improved The Espanso export is now a file to drop in, not a text to paste Export for Espanso now downloads a file, eteext-punchlines.yml, and shows three steps: where the file is, which Espanso folder to put it in (the path adapts to Windows, macOS or Linux), and what to do if one is already there. Espanso reads every file in that folder: nothing to rename, nothing else to install, no restart. Watch for the number your browser may add on a second download — remove it, or the old codes stay active alongside.
  • New Your signature, in each language (PRO) The default signature already followed the language. A custom signature now does too: write one in French and another in German, they no longer overwrite each other. Available with PRO access, from the trial onwards. The on/off switch stays global: turning the signature off turns it off in every language.

  • New A punchlines gallery A new 🗯️ button in the header opens Punchlines: a gallery of 24 ready-made lines, already styled — bold, italic, gothic, underlines, Zalgo, emojis — sorted by mood: Fun, Positive, Ironic agreement, Cynical, Angry, Dramatic, Zen, Meme. Copy one in a tap, edit it to your taste or write your own; Restore the original text brings the shipped version back. Edits stay on this device. All punchlines are in English for now — a future version may include other languages. How it works
  • New Short codes and an export for Espanso, on a computer Each punchline now shows a short code — :eena1: the letter e, the language, the initial of the mood, a number. Espanso is a free utility for Windows, macOS and Linux that inserts text when you type a code, in any application; it does not exist on phones. Click Export for Espanso, paste the result into your Espanso match file, and typing :eena1 anywhere inserts the styled punchline without opening ETeext. The three steps

  • New Sign in with Apple You can now create your account and sign in with your Apple ID, alongside Google and the email code. Three ways in, no password to remember. Use the same method each time: a different one may create a separate account.
  • Improved A clearer sign-in window One line per method. The email field appears only after you pick it, and a marker shows which one you used last time.

  • New A conversational assistant (beta) You can now ask questions about ETeext in plain language, in your own language — “how do I make my text bold?”, “does it work on WhatsApp?” — and get an answer drawn from the app’s real documentation, not made-up answers. Every question then comes back to the app’s creator, who reviews it and corrects the knowledge base whenever an answer wasn’t accurate enough: the assistant improves with every question asked. The best questions and answers are published on a dedicated page, exactly as real users asked them. Personal details — an address, a link, personal text — are removed before anything is stored. This is also a development experiment: exploring what a knowledge base built for one specific app can be — knowledge verified and measured on the app itself, rather than an AI’s general culture.   • New Ask a question straight from the app A 🤖 button in the app’s edit bar opens the assistant in a new tab, in your language — the app stays open behind it. Free, for everyone, signed in or not.
  • Fixed The PRO window now says the trial is free Clicking a PRO feature without an account offered payment, without ever saying that creating an account gives 21 days of PRO. It now says so, and invites you to create an account — no payment method asked for.
  • Improved The Paste button has left the edit bar It made room for the assistant button. Pasting still works as usual: long press in the field on a phone, Ctrl/Cmd+V on a computer.

  • Improved Restore your default signature (PRO) A PRO account now has a button under the signature field that puts the original signature back in one click — nothing is saved until you press Save. On a free account the signature is fixed, so the button isn't there.

  • Fixed The installed app reopens in the language you chose The app you add to your home screen now reopens in the language you chose, instead of the one it was installed from. You'll see it the next time you open it.

  • New Manage your subscription from the app A PRO account now finds Manage my subscription under Settings → Account. It opens your own space at our payment provider — no password to type again — where you change your payment method or cancel. Both on purpose: offering only the exit would have been rough on someone whose card has simply expired. Two things worth stating plainly. We do not cancel anything ourselves: we open the door, the provider does the rest. And a cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid, not on the day you click — your PRO access runs to that date, with no further charge. The same button now also appears in the message that refuses an account deletion while a subscription can still charge you: that way out is no longer a dead end.

  • New Delete your account yourself If you are signed in, you can now delete your account yourself, from Settings → Account. What goes is the account, the email address attached to it and your plan status — at once, and for good: there is no way back. Your notes stay on this device — they were never in your account. Deleting the account leaves them untouched; only clearing your browser data removes them. Invoices are the one thing kept, because accounting law requires it. A confirmation email reaches you in your language. It costs nothing and works on any plan. One case worth knowing: as long as a subscription could still charge you, the deletion is refused — otherwise the charges would go on with no way to stop them.
  • Improved The signature under your texts changes tone On a free account, the little line added under the text you copy now reads as a plain credit followed by the link, instead of the wink that invited people to guess how it was done. Only the opening words and the icon change: the arrow and the address stay as they were, and the address still leads to your own language. Nothing moves for PRO, where the signature remains yours to rewrite or remove.
  • Improved Every style card shows the button that makes it In the results grid, each card now carries — just left of its name — the button that produces that style, the very one from the toolbar. For styles tucked inside a menu, it is that menu's icon that appears. You see the result and, right beside it, the command behind it. It shows on every card, locked PRO styles included.

  • New Choose a style before you type Click a style without selecting anything: the button lights up, like a key held down, and everything you type next comes out in that style. Click it again to switch it off; click another and it takes over — there is never more than one at a time. The old way is untouched: with a selection, a button still styles that selection. It works on the 21 toolbar buttons and on the 12 entries of the Aa menu. It is free — six styles on a free account, all twenty-one with PRO. Three things worth knowing: pasted text is never styled (otherwise a pasted link would stop working), text you have already written is left alone, and on a touch device each word takes its style once it is finished rather than letter by letter, so autocorrect and word suggestions keep working. On a computer every letter is styled as you type. The feature is on by default; an Active style switch in Settings turns it off, and that choice belongs to each device.

  • New Separator lines to drop into your text A new window, opened from Emojis & Symbols with the Separators button, gathers 34 ready-made lines you can drop into your text: rules, block gradients, arrows facing each other, textured lines, titles. Tap the one you want and it lands at the cursor, like an emoji. A single control lengthens or shortens every pattern at once, so you can compare them at equal length — characters are not all the same width. It is free, and because a separator draws strokes instead of transforming letters, it looks the same whatever language your text is in. One reserve: the textured lines rely on stacked marks, which Safe Mode strips on copy — with it on, what comes out is a plain rule.
  • New “My template” — your own line, lengthened for you A field lets you paste your own run of characters, composed in the app or anywhere else: ETeext works out which part repeats, and the width control stretches it like the others. The detection handles symmetry — ──── ✦ ──── grows on both sides at once. Three slots keep your favourite templates from one visit to the next. Free as well.

  • New Blocks: a word drawn with squares Select a word, pick Blocks from the Frames menu, and it turns into a drawing of that word traced with small squares, in the pixel spirit of games like Minecraft — ordinary text that copies and pastes like everything else. It is made for a title or a signature: past six letters the drawing needs a wide screen, and it can break apart in a narrow message bubble. Latin alphabet only, accents included.   • Fixed Russian and Greek text is no longer altered Until now, styling Russian or Greek text swapped some letters for near-identical Latin lookalikes: Привет could come out as Пpиbеt. Sixteen Russian letters and twenty-six Greek ones were affected, across every transformation. Your text now goes through the app without changing alphabet.
  • Fixed Accents no longer turn into squares on Android On Android, the browser option that requests a site’s desktop version could make styled accented text show up as unreadable squares, with no way to connect the two. The font it needs is now loaded for everyone.
  • Fixed Black triangles in the symbols palette In the Symbols & Arrows palette, among the solid shapes, two triangles came out blue in some apps instead of the expected black: ▶ and ◀ are replaced with ► and ◄, which stay black everywhere. The playback controls (▶ ⏸ ⏭) keep their coloured look — that one is intended.

  • Fixed Accented words show correctly on Android On Android, a styled word with accents showed up as empty squares while you were writing it — “Densité élevée” looked like “Densit▯▯ ▯▯lev▯▯e”. Your text was never damaged: it left intact and arrived correctly. It was the on-screen preview that failed.
  • Improved Digits follow the style in two more fonts Italic and Gothic Bold now style digits too: “Top 10” becomes “𝘛𝘰𝘱 𝟣𝟢”. Three styles — Italic (Serif), Cursive and Gothic — keep plain digits on purpose: those digits simply do not exist, and borrowing them from another style would make them heavier than their own letters. Each of these three families has its own page: Italic fonts, Cursive fonts and Gothic fonts.

  • Fixed 18 special letters are styled at last Letters like Ł, Đ, Ø, Ñ, Ş, Ř used to lose their mark when styled: “Łódź” came out as “Lódź”, “MAÑANA” as “MANANA”. They now keep their shape. A handful of letters (ß, æ, œ, þ…) are still left untouched on purpose.
  • Fixed In PRO, clearing the signature really removes it Emptying the signature field used to restore the default one, so the ETeext link came back without you noticing. It now stays empty. Customising or removing the signature is a PRO feature.

  • New A way out when your login code will not go through Until now, the screen where you type the code emailed to you offered only one button. Anyone whose code had expired was stuck with no way forward. A Request a new code link now sits on that screen.
  • Improved The error message tells you what to actually do When a code was refused, the app said "Invalid or expired code. Try again." — advice that is wrong half the time: if the code has expired, retyping it cannot work. It now states the problem plainly and gives you both ways out: check what you typed, or ask for a new code.
  • Improved Your text no longer disappears Anything that reloaded the page used to wipe what you were writing: signing in with Google, switching language, updating the app. An automatic save had existed for a long time, but it erased itself on every start. Your text is now really there when you come back.
  • Fixed Character counter: correct wording in Italian, Polish and Dutch Three grammar slips. Italian showed "caract.", a French word. Polish showed "znaków" whatever the number, although the language agrees with the numeral. Dutch showed "1 tekens" from the very first character typed.

  • Fixed Your accents and special letters are preserved Turning on Safe Mode after styling could quietly alter your words when you copied: “café à Zurich” came out as “cafe a Zurich”, and “Łódź” became “Lodz”. Fixed — accents and letters like Đ, Ł and Ø are kept. Safe Mode strips the risky decorations, not your spelling, and the result is now identical whether you turn it on before or after styling.
  • New Safe Mode can now clean text you have already written Until now, turning on Safe Mode only affected what you styled next — text already on screen stayed as it was. Now, if your editor holds styled text, ETeext offers to convert it back to normal characters: “Styled text detected — your styled text may display poorly for some recipients. Convert it back to normal characters?” You can accept or keep it as it is, and the ↺ (Undo) button brings it back. The window never appears when cleaning would change nothing. More about Safe Mode
  • Improved The ⓘ tooltip now links to the full answer The tooltip that explains why styled characters count double now offers a “Learn more” link, which opens the matching FAQ entry on the site, in your language.

  • Improved Safe Mode now cleans what you copy and export With Safe Mode on, the text leaving ETeext is cleaned on the way out: floating accent marks are removed, so your words don't turn into empty squares (□) in more limited readers — Windows Notepad, older email clients. Your editor is never modified, and with Safe Mode off your copy keeps every bit of its styling. More about Safe Mode
  • New The character counter now explains itself A small ⓘ icon next to the counter (hover on desktop, tap on mobile) explains that styled characters count roughly twice, exactly like on X and other networks. A higher total isn't a bug — it's how those platforms count.
  • Improved A clearer end of trial When your trial ends, ETeext now tells you once — your trial is over, switch to PRO — instead of quietly locking features. Day counts also read correctly in all 13 languages (“1 day” vs “2 days”, including verb agreement in Spanish, Portuguese and Italian, and the Slavic forms in Polish and Russian).

  • New Every shared text invites people to try ETeext The signature added under your copied text is now a localized hook followed by a link — eteext.com/go — that opens a “How did I do it?” page. Anyone who sees your styled text can discover ETeext in one tap. It's part of the FREE plan; PRO lets you customize it or turn it off.
  • Improved Simpler, more reliable sign-in Sign in by email with a 6-digit code instead of clicking a link — more reliable, especially in the installed app on iPhone. “Continue with Google” now lets you pick your account.
  • Improved AI that completes your text without erasing it In Ask AI, a new Add after option (on by default) places the result below your text instead of replacing it. Turn it off to go back to replacing. (PRO)
  • Fixed Smoother language menu on mobile The language selector now scrolls correctly on mobile and reaches every language, with no scrolling spilling onto the page behind.

  • New ETeext now speaks 13 languages Four new interface languages: Indonesian, Turkish, Vietnamese and Russian — 13 in all, each with its own pages, the language selector, and installable as an app. On Indonesian, Turkish and Vietnamese text the styling works just like the other Latin-script languages (Turkish keeps its dotless ı unstyled, on purpose). The Russian and Hindi interfaces are fully translated, but the styled-text effect applies to the Latin alphabet only — not to Cyrillic or Devanagari. Open ETeext at app.eteext.com.
