Signing in to ETeext

Three ways in, and no password

ETeext never asks for a password. You sign in in one of three ways: with Google, with Apple, or with a 6-digit code sent to your email address.

You can also use ETeext without an account at all — the free styles work straight away. An account is what opens the 21-day PRO trial, and later a PRO subscription.

Once you have signed in on a device, a small marker shows which method you used last time. It is not there on a first visit.

Always use the same one

Each method is tied to the email address it gives us. When two methods give the same address, they open the same account — that is the ordinary case, and nothing special happens.

If you sign in with a different method, you may land in a new, empty account. Nothing is lost: your first account stays exactly as it was, with your notes and your plan. Sign out, then sign back in with the method you used before.

If you chose “Hide My Email” with Apple

Apple lets you keep your real address private when you sign in. If you chose that, Apple gives us a relay address — something ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com — and never your real one. Everything works normally: mail sent to the relay reaches your usual inbox, and your account is an ordinary account.

This is the one case where signing in another way cannot reach the same account: we never received your real address, so there is nothing to match it against. It is not a fault, and it is not something we can repair afterwards.

You may also notice something odd: on a phone, the round badge shows a letter that is not your initial; on a larger screen, the short address in the top bar looks unfamiliar. Both come from the relay address. There is nothing to fix.

If you would rather use your real address, Apple offers “Share My Email” the first time you sign in with Apple. Changing that choice later is done in your Apple ID settings, in the section listing the apps that use Sign in with Apple.

⚠️ Those same Apple settings can switch the relay forwarding off. If that happens, our emails stop arriving — including the sign-in code — and we have no way of knowing.

The warning the app shows

When the app can tell that you have already signed in another way, it warns you that a new account is about to be created.

Treat it as a help, not a guarantee. It only works on the same device and the same browser as before. On a new phone, or after clearing your browser data, it cannot appear.

If the code does not arrive

  • Look in your spam or junk folder — that is the usual cause.
  • Ask for a new code.
  • Or sign in with Google or Apple using that same email address: same address, same account.

Still nothing? Write to us through our contact form and we will look into it.
